Volunteer Thanks!

Thanks to Rosalie Jones who has volunteered to take our recyclable aluminum and help us raise money for our Food Pantry. Her first trip to the recycler netted the Food Pantry $6.30.

Thanks to Andy Whitmore for his past service to the church's Food Pantry and Food and Friends. We'll surely miss him as he takes a needed break.

World AIDS Day is Monday, December 1, 2014. Join us as we hold our Vigil at the church (due to rain) at 7:30 to 8:00 PM for a Candle-light AIDS Vigil. Afterwards join us at New Light Metropolitan Community Church (8:00 to 8:30 PM) for some light beverages and write loved ones' names on a red ribbon and tie it onto our AIDS ribbon tree.
Sunday, December 7, 2014 - 12:00 PM
We will be having our Annual Congregational Meeting in the Social Hall after services on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at 12:00 PM. All members are encouraged to attend. Not only will reports be read but there are positions available on the Board to be voted on. Non-members are invited also but are not eligible to vote.
HeadStartDear Members and Friends of New Light MCC Church:

We have been asked again to help the pre-school children of Head Start of Washington County by donating hats/gloves. These children are preschoolers, age infants to 4 years old. They specifically need sets for boys ages 3 and 4 years. We only have a few weeks to bring these into church, as I have to deliver them to Head Start on Mon., Dec. 8th. There is a basket for these donations at church. Thank you very much for your donations for these little ones. -- Sincerely, Lou Clingenpeel
Anyone interested in seeing "A Christmas Carol" at the Capitol Theatre in Chambersburg, PA on Saturday, December 13, 2014 @ 7:30 PM? We have an extra group discounted ticket for sale at $28.00 (regular price $35.00). Email the church, or see David Brechbiel on Sunday.

Did you know?
Our new outreach committee is responsible for most of the activities that occur within the life of the church. If there is service projects, social activities, or support programming, outreach is looking into making sure that they occur and that they run in an efficient and timely manner.
If there is something that you wish for the church to participate in please contact Charlotte Ashton, the committee chair. Please provide her details about the event, the date, supporting documentation, so that the committee can look at how, if, and when we will participate. If you are interested in leading, or organizing an event please contact Charlotte and make her aware of your desire. This committee is working diligently to assure that many of the things that we've participated in the past, new opportunities for the present, and goals for the future are accomplished.
NEW LIGHT MCC's Rev. Kelly Crenshaw and Harry Brubaker III accepted the ALS ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE on Sunday, August 24 and soaked each other in the parking lot. By doing it Rev. Kelly Crenshaw and Harry Brubaker III has challenged the congregation to fill a washtub with their donations for ALS. The tub is stationed on the side table in the front of the church. Then, in January, we will choose two people to start a fund drive for a different charity of their choice.
The Second Sunday of each month is our designated Food Pantry Donation Sunday. Bring your non-perishable donations to the church before or after service. Monetary donations are accepted also.
Our next Food Pantry Donation Sunday
is Sunday, December 7th.
Help us make a family's holiday meal a memorable one.
Don't forget to sign up to volunteer to help with worship each week. Altar Angels, Greeters, Readers, Ushers, Holders are always needed. If your special talent is making coffee share it with us. If you'd like to make snacks for after services for social hour we'd love it.

There's many useful files to view.
You'll find the Pastoral Search Power Point Presentation Download that Rev. Tony Freeman sent us.
Please download it and review.
Our Board of Directors are prayerfully and carefully looking at potential pastor resumes. We are blessed.
We have hired co-transitional pastors, Rev. Kelly Crenshaw and Rev. Sherry Miller to help us thru the process of finding a permanent pastor. They will share in the congregational care so if you feel the need to talk to one of the pastors on call, call their direct phone at

Pick up "The Monthly Calendar" on the first Sunday of the month before services to keep up to date on weekly events or announcements.

Our Denomination

Since its founding in 1968, MCC has been at the vanguard of civil and human rights movements by addressing important issues such as racism, sexism, homophobia, ageism, and other forms of oppression. MCC has been on the forefront in the struggle towards marriage equality in the US and other countries worldwide and continues to be a powerful voice in the LGBT equality movement.

Until next month...

Thank you New Light MCCers for the gifts and talents you bring to our church body so that we might take the message of God's love into our community, our country, and our world!

Religion is a compass, not a harness, let your heart explore.  You have the freedom to break the chains of religion that might have held you captive so you can find the YOU that God intended you to be!
