NEW LIGHT MCC's Rev. Kelly Crenshaw and Harry Brubaker III accepted the ALS ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE on Sunday, August 24 and soaked each other in the parking lot. By doing it Rev. Kelly Crenshaw and Harry Brubaker III has challenged the congregation to fill a washtub with their donations for ALS. The tub is stationed on the side table in the front of the church. Then, in January, we will choose two people to start a fund drive for a different charity of their choice.
The Second Sunday of each month is our designated Food Pantry Donation Sunday. Bring your non-perishable donations to the church before or after service. Monetary donations are accepted also.
Our next Food Pantry Donation Sunday
is Sunday, October 12th.
Holidays are fast approaching. Help us make a family's holiday meal a memorable one.

[The Food Pantry will accept donations anytime, see Andy Whitmore.]
Don't forget to sign up to volunteer to help with worship each week. Altar Angels, Greeters, Readers, Ushers, Holders are always needed. If your special talent is making coffee share it with us. If you'd like to make snacks for after services for social hour we'd love it.
Check out our Resources and Links Page on our Website.
There's many useful files to view.
You'll find the Pastoral Search Power Point Presentation Download that Rev. Tony Freeman sent us.
Please download it and review.
Our Board of Directors are prayerfully and carefully looking at potential pastor resumes. We are blessed.
We have hired co-transitional pastors, Rev. Kelly Crenshaw and Rev. Sherry Miller to help us thru the process of finding a permanent pastor. They will share in the congregational care so if you feel the need to talk to one of the pastors on call, call their direct phone at

Pick up "The Monthly Calendar" on the first Sunday of the month before services to keep up to date on weekly events or announcements.

We are still taking used ink cartridges so we may recycle them at Staples for their Rewards program and continue to pay for our new printer cartridges thru that program.

We saved $47.50 on office supplies last month.

"A Christmas Gift Raffle"
Raffle sales will start till mid-October for
"A Christmas Gift Raffle." If you'd like to buy raffle tickets that will benefit theBuilding Fund and The Food Pantryplease contact the church office (newlightmcc@hotmail.com).

An update with prize package descriptions will be sent later this month. The total of the prize packages is over $1000.00.
Tickets are $2.00 each, 3 for $5.00 or 7 for $10.00.
There are 7 drawings so when you purchase 7 tickets you have at least one chance for each prize drawing. If you are present at the drawing you also have additional options. If your ticket is drawn for a prize, you have an option of taking "all" the package of presents, or have an immediate "auction" of one unwanted present for a 50/50 split with the church of the proceeds from the auction. Or, you may reject the package altogether, receive additional new chance tickets to be put into the next drawing. You can only do this once but as prize levels go up, you will receive the next level of package number of tickets to do so ... reject 1st package = 2 tickets; reject 2nd package = 3 tickets; ... reject 6th package = 7 tickets; increasing the odds of the next drawing. The rejected prize package will be redrawn (will not be subject to rejection again). If you are not present for the drawing, you win the package with no options.

If you have moved in the past year and have not updated your church records please let us know of any changes.

We are in need of some items for the church. Kitchen garbage bags, 55-gal garbage bags, 20# 8-1/2x11 White Bond paper, Postage Stamps, Coffee, Toilet Paper, Paper Towels. Also, bring in your used ink toner/cartridges so we can recycle for rewards.

Our Denomination

Since its founding in 1968, MCC has been at the vanguard of civil and human rights movements by addressing important issues such as racism, sexism, homophobia, ageism, and other forms of oppression. MCC has been on the forefront in the struggle towards marriage equality in the US and other countries worldwide and continues to be a powerful voice in the LGBT equality movement.

Until next month...

Thank you New Light MCCers for the gifts and talents you bring to our church body so that we might take the message of God's love into our community, our country, and our world!

Religion is a compass, not a harness, let your heart explore.  You have the freedom to break the chains of religion that might have held you captive so you can find the YOU that God intended you to be!
